I started performing on stage in musicals at the age of 7. I became serious about a future in music and began singing classical music and opera at the age 14. I went on to study music in college and received a Bachelor’s of Music at Grand Valley State University. It was during this time that I joined my first cover band Group Therapy out of Grand Rapids, MI. I moved to Indiana in 2010 to pursue my Master of Arts degree at Ball State University (graduated in 2012 - performed lead roles in several Ball State opera productions and auditioned for opera companies in New York and Chicago). I took a long break from singing and performing to start a family and was a country line dance instructor on the side for over 4 years. I was a finalist in the local “Can You Rock?” competition in 2014 and always knew I wanted to someday be involved in the Indy music scene. I couldn’t be happier to have found a place with Aela. This is my first time being the lead singer of a band and I am grateful for the opportunity to make music and entertain people once again!

Hailing from Greenfield, IN...Brent began playing music professionally in 1979. At the age of 15, he began playing in various private clubs around central Indiana with The Royal Aces Band. Throughout the 80's he toured the U.S. and Canada with several regional and national acts. He is as much fun to watch as he is to listen to. In his spare time, Brent loves watching old horror movies and spending time with his family.

It started in fourth grade. I was part of the elementary school choir and was asked to sing the Star-Spangled Banner in an event the school put on. I didn’t know at the time, but the event was televised locally. Scared to death but had a blast! Fifth grade band came and I chose the trombone. I played all through school and traveled with our Jazz Band in High School. Always surrounded by music I learned tuba and for fun the guitar. Pause for 30 years and I started playing guitar in church working with High School kids like a School of Rock with a Jesus twist sort of thing. Then came The Right on Red Band, something else and then we started Aela. 3 pieces grew to 4 and then to 5 and here we are. It is about nothing more than the music and the way it makes me and everyone who hears it feel. I love this and won’t stop until I just can’t any longer. Until then, see you at the next show.
